As well as designing pieces for Gordon Russell Ltd, Dick Russell had his own practice that he ran with Marian. One of their commissions, from 1957, was to design various rooms at the Grosvenor House hotel- including the American Bar, the restaurant and 92 bedrooms. The bedroom schemes included built-in furniture, made from a variety of wood such as cherry, mahogany and walnut.
